This is a slow-growing blood cancer in which your bone marrow creates a lot of red blood cells. These cells thicken your blood and slowing its flow. They may also cause complications like blood clots. That it leads to a heart attack or stroke.

This is an unusual type of bone marrow cancer that interrupts your body’s normal making of blood cells. It causes extensive scarring in your bone marrow leading to severe anemia that can cause weakness.

This medication is not a cure for these disorders, but it may help with some of the symptoms such as:

  • Night sweats
  • Bone or muscle pain
  • Itching
  • Pain under left ribs
  • Abdominal discomforts
  • Early feelings of fullness from meals

How does Ruxolitinib Tablet work?

Ruxolitinib is a kinase inhibitor that is selective for the Janus Associated Kinases (JAK) 1 and 2. These are responsible for the mediation of cytokine and growth factor signaling. Which in turn affects immune function and hematopoiesis. The signaling process involves signal transducers and transcriptions activators (STAT). In which it is the one that modulates the gene expression. People with Myelofibrosis have abnormal JAK1 and JAK2. Thus, this medication works to regulate this condition.

Why use Ruxolitinib Tablet?

Ruxolitinib Tablet belongs to the class of medications called JAK inhibitors. This has the brand name of Jakafi. Ruxolitinib is the active ingredient of this product. This comes as a tablet for oral use. Each tablet has the strengths of 5 mg, 10 mg, 15 mg, 20 mg, and 25 mg. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has already approved this prescription.  

How to use Ruxolitinib Tablet?

Ruxolitinib Tablet is to be taken by mouth with or without a meal. Each dose is usually taken twice a day. If you have difficulty swallowing the tablet as a whole, call your doctor for another way to take it. Remember to take each tablet at the same time every day.

The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to it. Take it exactly as it is prescribed. Do not take more than or more often than it is directed by your doctor.
