How does Estazolam Tablet work?

Estazolam Tablet is a triazolobenzodiazepine derivative. It is an oral hypnotic agent with anticonvulsant, hypnotic, and has muscle relaxant properties. This medication works by slowing the activity in the brain to allow sleep. It binds non-specifically to benzodiazepine receptors, which affects anticonvulsant activity, muscle relaxation, memory, and motor coordination. As benzodiazepine receptors are thought to be coupled to gamma-aminobutyric acid-A (GABA) receptors, this enhances the effects of GABA. It is by increasing GABA affinity for the GABA receptor. The binding of inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA to the site opens the chloride channel. In which it results in a hyperpolarized cell membrane that prevents further excitation of the cell.
